American Beech (White Beech)
This plant can be seen in Southern and Eastern parts of the United States. Also, it can be seen in Maine and Northern Massachusetts. This 100 foot tall tree provides the many animals with the nuts it produces.
Guelder Rose (Snowball Tree)
This native of Europe can be found in cooler climates in the United States. However, this is an invasive
shrub that is important to insects and birds who eat its nectar and berries.
White Birch (Paper Birch)
The white birch is found in Newfoundland, Labrador, Canada, and from New England to North Carolina in the United States. It prefers colder climates, however. Moose are able to eat the tops of the young trees. Also, it is an excellent fire starter.
